Law & Order: SVU Tackling The Josh Duggar Scandal? See What The Cast Had To Say HERE!

We’d definitely watch this!

Law & Order: SVU is never afraid to rip stories straight from the headlines — remember when the original Law & Order basically had Chevy Chase play Mel Gibson, “sugartits” reference and all?

Well it sounds like this year is no different as the show looks to adopt a couple ideas from this year’s top stories! Though they’ve stayed away from the whole Bill Cosby thing so far, we do know that the drama is going to start their 17th season off with a 2-hour episode that will be heavily influenced from the HBO series The Jinx about Robert Durst.

Sure we’ll check that out, but the episode we’d REALLY tune in for is if and when they decide to tackle the Duggar family scandal!

Some of the stars even gave their opinions about the possibility of the show depicting The Duggars. Raúl Esparza, who plays ADA Barba on the show said:

“I’m sure they’re coming our way. I don’t think there’s any way the writers room will stay away form it, but who knows what form it’s going to take. It won’t be that exact… Ultimately, it’s got to stay fiction and got to stay engaging. We don’t want to recreate what you just lived through because — we’ll never live up to reality because reality’s getting really bizarre.”

Peter Scanavino, who plays Detective Carisi chimed in, saying:

“With the Duggar one, it was like the double-whammy because it was his sisters and the fact├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥I mean, honestly, I feel like we’re dealing with some topics this season that feel a bit meatier than some lunatic fringe family… I wouldn’t mind doing one just because I have never been so infuriated with someone’s level of hypocrisy, and lying, and then displacement of responsibility onto something else. When I think about that guy, it boils my blood, I will say.”

Mariska Hargitay even said:

“We can’t believe this stuff comes up though.”

Honestly, we can’t believe some of the scandals that happen either! But we’ll DEFINITELY tune in to see a fictitious version of the Duggar story!

Make sure you check out the two-hour season premiere of Law & Order: SVU on Wednesday September 23 at 9pm on NBC!
