PUMP THE BRAKES!
After becoming one of the most successful film franchises of all time, we wondered if we’d ever see the end of the Fast & Furious movies!
But every race must come to an end eventually, and according to Vin Diesel, that will be exactly 3 movies from now!
On Sunday, the actor posted on his Facebook that he is producing a final trilogy of Universal‘s hit action movies! He wrote in the post:
“Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision… they have been like family… I promised the studio I would deliver one last trilogy to end the saga.”
One more trilogy — or three quarter miles in Dom time — means the franchise will end with number 10.
While the studio previously announced that the upcoming Furious 8 was set to be released on April 14, 2017, Diesel admits that the next installment doesn’t have a director OR a script just yet! He continued:
“My producing partner Neal [Moritz] would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled. To be clear, NO ONE has been offered to helm Fast 8 yet… let alone seen a script.”
But just like his character in the series, the 48-year-old delivers speedy results! Diesel said the directors for the final films will be announced in his next Facebook post!
