On top of creating some of TV’s greatest shows and releasing her first book in November, Shonda Rhimes somehow found the time to lose 117 pounds in the last year. WHAT?! You go, girl!

In a recent interview promoting the return her hit shows Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder (you may have heard of them??), the fierce mother of three opened up about her impressive transformation:

“I just decided I was going to get it together and get healthy. I have some little kids, and I want to be around for them.”

We want her to be around for us — and our Thursday nights — too!

So what’s her weight loss secret? The 45-year-old isn’t doing anything too out of the ordinary — just good ol’ fashioned diet and exercise! Despite absolutely hating the lifestyle change, she shared:

“Once I decided it wasn’t going to be fun, I lowered my expectations. It got kind of easier.”

When it comes to her diet, she tries not to restrict herself too much:

“I actually eat everything I want to eat. I tried to make it much less and smaller portions, but what’s happened is you change what your palate wants. I’m suddenly craving fish and salad … It’s upsetting! I’m like, where’s my cake?”

We ask ourselves that every day, Shonda!

All of her hard work is definitely paying off:

“I have a lot of extra energy and I feel much better, so that’s good!”
