UPDATE 1:01 PM EST: 50 Cent released the following statement through his rep:
“Mr. Jackson reposted something on Instagram that originated from a blog in relation to the decrease in Empire’s ratings. When he realized there was additional content in the blog post that he did not agree with, he immediately deleted the post as that is not a reflection of his views at all.”
Fair enough. It’s good to know he clarified that, but hopefully he’ll read the whole thing before re-posting next time.
This is disgusting!!
The Power executive producer reposted — then later deleted — someone’s Instagram comment that seemed to fault “gay stuff” for the reason that Empire‘s ratings fell so much between their premiere and second episode.
The post read:
“There are 3 million less viewers who tuned into last night’s Empire episode!!!! did you watch it? We could not take the extra gay stuff or celebrity stuff last night!!!!”
And also kind of absurd — only because even though Empire did see a drop in viewers in their second week, it was from 16 million in the season premiere (a massive audience), to 13.7 million in episode two (STILL a massive audience!!).
Fitty also wrote a message to Taraji P. Henson‘s character on the show:
“EMPIRES TV RATINGS TOOK A HUGE HIT. Ok I’ll stop now. COOKIE CALL ME BABY. I’ll tell every body to watch the show for you. LOL.”
We seriously doubt Cookie will be calling Mr. Jackson any time soon, but…
Anyways, what do U think of this 50 Cent vs. Empire feud?? “Gay stuff” isn’t the downfall of a show, and 50 should know better, right?!
