Hospital Worker Found Dead After Being Locked Inside A Bathroom For Five Days

This is so sad.

The NYPD is conducting an investigation over the death of a hospital worker who was found dead in a bathroom after seemingly being locked inside for days.

Anthony Iuso worked as a cleaner on the third floor of Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. His family told reporters that he went to the emergency room to get his injured finger checked out on Thursday — but wasn’t seen since.

The 44-year-old was looked at by nurses, who reportedly treated his finger and released him before he apparently returned to the third floor to use the restroom.

The family said they reached out to the hospital for help after a few days of not hearing from Iuso. On Monday, they went to Montefiore and demanded to see the security footage to piece together where he last was.

After checking the footage, they made the discovery of Iuso’s body in the restroom. His brother, Thomas, said the hospital’s alleged negligence is “insane,” explaining:

“Apparently they made no attempt to get ahold of him, get ahold of their patient that checked into the ER or get ahold of their worker that left work early. They never chose to check this particular bathroom until [Monday], when we finally started making a lot of commotion.”

The hospital released the following statement about the ongoing investigation:

“The staff at Montefiore is extremely saddened to learn that one of our employees has passed away. Our hearts go out to the family, friends and co-workers.”

We can’t believe something like that could go undetected in a hospital for five days! Our heart goes out to Iuso’s family during this tragic time.
