In a new interview with TimeOut, the 47-year-old was asked if he’d star in another installment of the film franchise, and it turns out he has some pretty strong feelings about playing 007 again, saying:
“Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”
Tell us how you really feel, Daniel!
In fact, the English actor made it more than obvious that he was “over it,” because he admitted that he doesn’t care at all about who is cast as his replacement, adding:
“Look, I don’t give a f*ck. Good luck to them! All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we’ve left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better. Make it better, that’s all.”
He continued to say that he really wants a nice, clean break from the spy flicks — at least for a little while — and would only go back if he’s strapped for cash, explaining:
“For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it. I don’t know what the next step is. I’ve no idea. Not because I’m trying to be cagey. Who the fuck knows? At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”
And for those of you who were confused as to why Daniel recently said he’s signed on for one more movie, he explains in this interview that he was already contracted for a fourth movie — and Spectre just so happens to be film number four for him:
“Well, I was contracted to do another one. That was all set up. But at the studio there was a real keenness to get it done as soon as possible. In fact, there was a conversation at one point that went: ‘Let’s film two movies back to back.’ I just went: ‘You’re out of your f*cking minds.’ In the nicest possible way. They’re just too big.”
Seeing as the movie star is totally done with this role after about a decade, his advice for his successor is simple:
“Literally I’d say two things. Firstly, it’s your decision. Don’t listen to anybody else. Well, do listen to everybody, but you have to make the choice at the end of the day. It’s your bed to lie on. And don’t be sh*t! Don’t be sh*t. You’ve got to step up. People do not make movies like this any more. This is really rare now. So don’t be sh*t.”
Well, there you have it, Perezcious readers. He sure does sound like he’s pretty tired of playing the seductive secret agent! But what do U think?
