But in the rambling sit down, Yeezy also managed to criticize the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences — because he thinks Keeping Up With The Kardashians should have won “plenty of Emmys by now.”
Speaking with fashion website SHOWstudio, the superstar said:
“I feel proud to be in a family that has, you know, so many people breaking ground for the generations to come. I just feel it’s like, ‘Whoa, reality show, that’s so f**king new of an art form.'”
We’re not sure if the rapper is aware that the award for Outstanding Reality Program has been handed out at the Creative Arts Emmys since 2001!
Regardless, the 38-year-old asserted that there’s a stigma against reality TV, and even went as far as comparing it to the early prejudice against rap music! He added:
“My wife and my family should’ve had plenty of Emmys by now, but reality shows are considered to be like rap was when the Mondrian [hotel] wouldn’t let Run-D.M.C. and mother-f**king Will Smith stay there because they were rappers. The idea of a reality star not being allowed into a fashion show or not being nominated for their show, even if it’s the longest running and the most popular and… everybody I know watches it.”
What do YOU think?
