However, Miz Willis has since revealed that she knows EXACTLY why she didn’t get the part — because she bombed her audition.
The Dancing With The Stars champ shared:
“You know, it was actually totally news to me. I felt like I did an awful audition back then. I was so young and it was, like, one of the first things I’d ever auditioned for.”
Awww, we’re sure she wasn’t THAT bad.
“My sisters and I were huge fans of the books ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ huge, huge fans so I remember we were just so excited when they said they were doing a TV show.”
Unfortunately, just because you’re a fan of something doesn’t mean you’re supposed to be a part of it. Whomp, whomp.
Apparently, the starlet was considered at the time because her name might’ve brought big recognition to the unknown project.
Casting director David Rapaport explained:
“I think the network initially pitched us Ashley Olsen and Rumer Willis for Blair and Serena. I love Rumer, she’s grown into quite an amazing actress and person, but that, to me, was based on protecting the investment of a television show where creatively, these lesser-known girls really captured the essence of the show and carried it for six years.”
Despite losing out on the role, Bruce Willis‘ daughter’s career has been growing quite smoothly as she guest-starred on a different CW show and is currently playing Roxy Hart in Broadway‘s Chicago. Bravo!
In fact, it appears Rumer agrees with the network’s final decision as she sang the two stars’ praises. She noted:
“Blake and Leighton did an incredible job.”
We agree! Though we’re excited to see what Rumer does next — after film, TV, and the stage what’s left for her to tackle??
Our money’s on a Christmas album. WE KID!
