This is terrible!

New York Giants tight end Daniel Fells missed Sunday’s NFL game on because of an injury — but not just ANY injury.

He originally had both a toe and ankle injury that ended up developing into Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

The 32-year-old athlete was taken to the emergency room where doctors found the source of the pain. Since then, Fells has undergone FIVE surgeries trying to fight the infection!

According to reports, if his condition doesn’t start to improve, there’s a good chance he could end up losing his foot.

That’s because if the MRSA gets into his bones, it could end up traveling to his blood and cause VERY serious consequences for him.

On Sunday night, Daniel took to Instagram to post:

My heart is with my brothers tonight. Get that W G-men. I love every one of you #thiswillnotdefeatmeA photo posted by Daniel Fells (@danielfells85) on Oct 11, 2015 at 4:09pm PDT

After the game, Giants coach Tom Coughlin said:

“We dedicated the game to Daniel Fells and his family and thank God we were able to give him that game ball.”

We hope more than anything that Daniel makes a full recovery and can get back to doing what he loves. Our hearts go out to him and his loved ones during this difficult time.
