Well, that took no time at all!
The case involving Jennifer Connell, the woman suing her 12-year-old nephew for breaking her wrist four years ago, has come to a close.
Thankfully it ended up the way pretty much EVERYONE wanted it to — and the jury came to a decision about as quick as we would have!
It took a mere 20 minutes on Tuesday for six Superior Court jurors to come to the conclusion that Connell — or the #AuntFromHell as she was known on Twitter — should not be awarded anything for her civil claim against her nephew.
Miz Connell was seeking $127,000 in damages from Sean Tarala because she claims he broke her wrist at his eighth birthday party when he jumped into her arms.
Who knows why it took four years for her to come forward, but she finally did and the jury wasn’t buying it. But it probably didn’t help her case that she tried to complain about how hard it’s been to hold a plate of hors d’oeuvres.
We’re sorry, was it also hard for you to wipe your butt with hundred dollar bills? LOLz!
Luckily for the kid, he was just a kid!
The judge pointed out that if the defendant was 18 at the time of the alleged incident, then he would have been expected to act like a “reasonable adult.”
As it was though, the jury was instructed to:
“… judge the child’s behavior by how a child of similar age, intelligence and experience is expected to behave.”
Of course Connell had no comment after the court ruling, but one juror explained her reasoning for the decision saying:
“We just didn’t think the boy was negligent.”
We’re just glad this is over with and it only took 20 minutes for a decision!
This doesn’t bode well for the #AuntFromHell’s other lawsuit, in which she’s suing the manufacturers of the bureau that she stubbed her toe on when she was 15. LOLz!
