A New York Mets fan caught a glimpse of the ugly side of the sports world this weekend after an altercation outside Dodger Stadium left him in critical condition — with a part of his skull missing.
The incident took place Friday evening after a playoff matchup between the visiting Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers and reportedly began as a verbal argument that quickly escalated.
Although little is known about the assailants, police believe it was a mother and son working together!
The LAPD are currently searching for a woman in her 40s or 50s and a tall male with blonde hair in his mid to late 20s.
The victim was reportedly knocked unconscious and began bleeding when his head struck the pavement. Luckily, Dodger fans who witnessed the attack used the “rally towels” they received at the game to help stop the bleeding.
The victim, who has yet to be identified, is now in serious but stable condition and detectives from the LAPD have been interviewing him in hopes of getting more details on the attack.
While no arrests have been made yet, Chief Charlie Beck says there will be a large police presence at Dodger Stadium on Thursday when the series picks up for game 5 in Los Angeles.
We sincerely hope the victim is able to make a full recovery and that his assailants are eventually brought to justice for this horrible act of violence.
