Last week it was revealed that Sister Wives star Meri Brown was catfished into having an online affair with a woman pretending to be a man.
While details surrounding what actually happened were kept under wraps, it was just days later that voicemail messages were released documenting her side of their relationship.
And now, Meri is finally opening up about the ordeal. She explained:
“I became fearful of the online relationship as I became aware of the deception. I didn’t know how to get out of the situation without putting myself, family, and friends at greater risk. It was a very difficult time. I had a lot of anxiety.”
Who knows what kind of information the reality star might have shared that could have put those close to her at risk! We can only imagine what she was going through when she found out the truth.
It seems the TLC personality was actually under the impression she was engaging with a Chicago businessman.
So it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that Meri would have been hesitant to open to her husband, Kody Brown, and his wives, Robyn, Christine, and Janelle.
She eventually spilled, sharing:
“My family was very concerned for our safety and angry that we had been targeted. They were relieved once I told them what was really going on and saddened that I had been so afraid of involving them that I didn’t go to them sooner.”
Well, it’s hard to know what to do in a situation like this.
At least Mer’s got the support of her family, saying:
“Our family is holding strong together, as we always have and always will.”
We’re just glad they’ve got her back!
She’s going to need people she can trust.
