Speaking on the red carpet at the Habitat for Humanity Builders Ball in El Lay on Wednesday night, Magic shared some heartfelt words. He confessed:

“It’s a tough situation for those who have known him and also those who are in the NBA family, and then probably all the fans here in Los Angeles and all the other cities that he played in, because of the fact that this is a young man that thrilled us all with his talents. But for me personally, I got a chance to know him and got to be friends with him, and he would always bounce things off [me], because when he came out, everybody compared him to myself├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥big man that could handle the ball├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥so we had that whole dynamic that we had together.”

And the star continued:

“Lamar did so much for so many people. People don’t realize he had such a big heart and has such a big heart. He blessed so many kids, people he didn’t even know. Rookies that came and played for the Lakers, [he] bought them suits, tailor-made suits. I mean, this is who he is. We’re hoping and praying that he can pull through and that he’ll be OK. If that happens, we all have to now rally around him and help him move forward in his life.”

What a beautiful memory!!

Of course, the NBA great emphasized:

“We’re praying for him to pull through. I know this is a crucial time, so we’ve all just got to send up our prayers and hope that everything works out.”

Exactly. It was only hours prior that he even tweeted the same sentiments, writing:

And while Magic isn’t able to be at Odom’s side right now, what would he do if he could be?? Well, he said:

“First of all, if he was well, I would bring him a bag of Skittles, because that was his thing, right? Candy was his thing. He loved candy. I just want to see the smile, because I know he’s OK.”

That’s beautiful, and we’re sure Lamar would love it.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with him and his loved ones during this difficult time.
