Wow, this is scary.

The son of Storage Wars: Miami star Kevin Pew was arrested and charged with first degree murder following a fatal shooting during a viewing party for the show on Tuesday, October 13.

23-year-old Hashim Pew allegedly shot and killed 19-year-old Janel Hamilton, who was staying with him and his mother (her godmother) in Pembroke Pines, Florida while visiting from London — according to a report from the Sun Sentinel.

According to the arrest report, Pew allegedly went into another room to get a blanket during a gathering to watch Storage Wars: Miami when the family suddenly heard a gunshot. That’s when the TV personality reportedly tackled his son to keep him restrained until police arrived.

A .45 caliber semiautomatic gun — the same firearm as one stolen during a 2008 vehicle burglary — was recovered from the scene.

A motive for the tragedy has not yet been revealed. The victim’s great aunt Varion McGann shared:

“She was so intelligent and so brave, a happy, pleasant, loving girl and I just can’t understand why this had to happen. They have no motive. There were no issues, no nothing.”

Such a devastating story. Our thoughts and prayers are with Hamilton’s loved ones.
