What an amazing tribute.
Kathie Lee Gifford was inducted into Broadcasting and Cable’s Hall of Fame on Tuesday night — and among fellow inductees was her late husband and legendary sportscaster Frank Gifford, who past away two months ago.
On her Today show Wednesday morning, the 62-year-old morning talk show host shared:
“It is a huge honor. The best part of the evening was that they also honored Frank. I think it’s the only hall of fame he is not yet in. Our children were there to receive it for their dad, so it was going to be difficult for me emotionally.”
At the show, Kathie Lee’s two children Cody and Cassidy honored their father during an acceptance speech. Their 22-year-old daughter said:
“He was a man who had his faults, as do we all, but he was a man that personified grace, dignity, love, compassion without any expectation of return. He was the kindest human being I was ever blessed with the privilege of knowing.”
Her 25-year-old brother continued by addressing their proud momma:
“Above all, he wanted to tell [you] how proud he is of you, Mom. He told me to tell you congratulations and that he loves you even now and more than ever.”
Wow. What a touching speech!!
As this was an obviously emotional evening for the entire family, the comedian opened up to reporters on the red carpet:
“We started out as friends, and we had a great love affair and then towards the end, we were the best of friends in a really good relationship ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ that’s what it should be. We’re trying to get used to a new normal and that will take a while. I keep expecting him to come around the door, you know.”
When asked about her beginning to date again, Regis Philbin‘s former co-host quickly responded:
“Oh, I can’t even go there!”
Our thoughts continue to go out to Kathie Lee and her family.
