Wherever the Duggars go, sex abuse scandals seems to follow!
In the latest Duggar controversy, the family’s go-to conservative homeschooling program, Institute in Basic Life Principles, was sued for years of sexual abuse against minors at the hands of its leader, Bill Gothard.
While Bill was put on “indefinite administrative leave” last year due to the number of complaints, he still works and has influence within the organization. According to the plaintiffs, Gothard and other members of the organization have continue to participate in a massive cover-up against the allegations and have taken discriminatory action against the victims.
In fact, one member alleged:
“Bill would call the parents and share with them all the allegations of abuse that were shared in counseling, and then send the children back into those environments if one of his victims rejected him.”
So disgusting! Not to mention the suit alleges that IBLP staff members failed to report incidents of abuse to Child Protective Services and other appropriate organizations.
To add insult to injury, the institute have counseled sex-abuse survivors to ask themselves if God “let it happen” because they were dressed inappropriately or hanging out with “evil friends”.
Ugh! What a sick mentality! We really hope the four plaintiffs receive their $50,000 in damages and that this institution is held accountable for its deplorable actions!
What’s interesting to note is that the Duggars sent Josh Duggar to an IBLP camp after he admitted to sexually abusing his sisters. Hmm…
Let’s hope all these sexual abuse victims find justice!
