James Bond — world-saving British super spy, ultimate ladies man, and according to Daniel Craig, a total woman-hater!
The 007 franchise star hasn’t been shy in expressing his indifference about portraying the suave action hero for the fifth time after the upcoming film Spectre — and now we have a better idea why!
In a recent interview, the 47-year-old got really candid about some of Bond’s glaring character flaws. After interviewer Rudiger Sturm started talking about Bond’s admirable skills with the ladies, Craig quickly interjected with:
“But let’s not forget that he’s actually a misogynist. A lot of women are drawn to him chiefly because he embodies a certain kind of danger and never sticks around for too long.”
After the interviewer pointed out that 007 has become more chivalrous in more recent films, the actor attributed the character’s evolution to being surrounded by “strong women who have no problem putting him in his place.”
But the exchange didn’t stop there!
Sturm pointed out that in Spectre, Bond falls victim “to the charms of an older woman.” But Craig wasn’t having that either! He corrected:
“I think you mean the charms of a woman his own age. We’re talking about Monica Bellucci, for heaven’s sake. When someone like that wants to be a Bond girl, you just count yourself lucky!”
Now we get why the actor is over playing the iconic spy!
