When she ignored the teacher and an administrator and refused to get out of her seat, the resource officer was called in and asked her if “she was gonna go or if he had to make her go.”

Johnson explained what happened next, saying:

“Then he grabbed her and pulled her out of her desk and she fell on the ground with the desk still on her. He then threw her across the room and then got on top of her. Another student tried to stand up for her, which also led to her arrest.”

The student claims that Fields “has a history of using aggressive force,” but doesn’t know too much about the girl in the video, who recently transferred into his class.

The video has sparked another round of of media outrage about police brutality against African Americans.

Stars including Octavia Spencer and Olivia Wilde took to Twitter to express their disgust with the hashtag #AssaultAtSpringValleyHigh, writing:

Superintendent of Richland County School District Two Debbie Hamm said officials were “deeply concerned” about the assault, and they were “working closely and in full cooperation” with county sheriff’s investigators.
