Police Shoot And Kill 6-Year-Old During Car Chase

How does this even happen??

A 6-year-old boy was killed in Louisiana on Tuesday after police opened fire during a car chase, pursuing a vehicle in which the boy was riding.

According to reports, Jeremy Mardis was in the car with his father Chris Few behind the wheel. Few was allegedly trying to evade city marshals who were trying to serve him with a warrant.

Investigators believe Marksville police pursued the vehicle into a dead end, and Few backed into the police car. That’s when the cops opened fire.

The young boy was shot five times in the head and chest, while his father was critically injured.

Avoyelles Parish Coroner Dr. L. J. Mayeux said that the boy was shot “accidentally” by officers, detailing:

“More likely than not they were shooting into the driver side, and he was on the passenger side. He was in the line of fire.”

A lot of details are still unknown, but we can’t imagine the officers had any reason to open fire on a vehicle — especially if they knew there was a child in there!

Louisiana State Police are investigating the incident at the request of the Marksville Police Department, so hopefully we’ll get some answers.

Our hearts go out to the victim’s family at this difficult time.
