Everyone needs their mommy!
With Justin Bieber’s new album, Purpose, only a week away, the 21-year-old is opening up about his past and sounding very mature.
The Where Are U Now singer recently talked to Billboard about his darker days, as well as being nervous for the release of his fourth studio album.
While he was chatting with the magazine though, he reflected back a little bit further than a few years ago when he was getting into trouble.
The What Do You Mean singer delved into the relationship with his mom, Pattie Mallette, and revealed that even though they were once close, their relationship is “pretty nonexisting” now.
But Bieber recognizes what happened and admits:
“I was distant because I was ashamed. I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was. We spent some time not talking, so it takes time to rebuild that trust. She’s living in Hawaii now, so it’s hard, but getting better. She’s an amazing woman and I love her.”
Pattie gave birth to Justin when she was only 17 and pretty much raised him on her own. It goes without saying that she was a major influence on JB getting into music as she entered him into the talent contest where his agent, Scooter Braun, discovered him.
Even though Scooter found Justin, the agent isn’t taking any of the credit for the young singer’s turnaround in attitude. He said:
“I see people pointing, saying what a great job I did orchestrating his comeback. I’ll be frank. I failed for a year and a half. He shut himself off and went into a dark place. Every single day I tried to help him turn it around, and every single day I failed. And I tried desperately. The only person who deserves credit for this is Justin.”
Though Bieber’s relationship with his mom hasn’t been strong as of late, Justin’s had a great relationship with his dad, Jeremy Bieber. The pop star even opened up about his dad’s past when Jeremy left Justin and his mom saying:
“He was immature. He left for like a year when I was about 4, went to British Columbia, came back on Father’s Day. I remember my mom said, ├óΓé¼╦£If you’re going to be here, you have to be here.’ There’s a misconception that he’s this deadbeat dad, but he has been in my life since. I was with him on weekends and Wednesdays.”
JB went on to reveal how his father has grown over the years and said:
“My dad told me this the other day. He said, ├óΓé¼╦£Pride is your worst enemy. It’ll pull greatness out of you.’ I just thought that’s so great, because he’s a prideful man — he has always known what’s best — and it has taken him this long to see that.”
Not only does Biebs’ new music sound better and more mature, but the young star is sounding like he’s growing up too!
We just wish nothing but good things for you, Justin, and hope everything works out for the best with your family!
