At least there were swift consequences!
A middle school teacher in West Haven, Connecticut was fired after getting physical with a student last week — and now the teacher may be facing criminal charges!
It all started last week when David Pfaff was recorded by a student getting aggressive with another student at Connecticut’s Bailey Middle School.
When the victim apparently wouldn’t listen, Pfaff pulled out the kid’s chair from underneath him, causing the student to land on the floor.
Pfaff had been hired this summer by the school district, and he was still a probationary employee at the middle school.
Because of his status, the school was able to fire him immediately, with West Haven Police Sergeant Daivd Tammaro saying:
“We escorted that teacher out off campus … because that video has begun a criminal investigation.”
Pfaff may be facing charges, too, according to West Haven Superintendent Neil C. Cavallaro:
“As soon as we were notified last week of the incident in question, we immediately contacted the appropriate authorities and terminated the teacher. We cannot comment further as the investigation is ongoing and it’s also a personnel matter.”
However, Sgt. Tammaro wouldn’t elaborate on charges until they were actually filed by a prosecutor:
“I don’t think we’re going to go into the specific charges until we sit down with a prosecutor and see if it warrants that. But we believe it does.”
