One Direction Says Their First Album Without Zayn Malik Is The ‘Best One’ Yet!

Are they throwing shade?

Everyone is excited for Friday’s release of Made in the A.M., especially One Direction!

The boy band went through a big change earlier this year when Zayn Malik left to pursue a solo career. So, the guy group’s fifth studio album will only feature the vocal stylings of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan.

And while this highly-anticipated release will be their first project without the 22-year-old, the X Factor alums believe it’s actually their best work to date!

Harry told People:

“Obviously when you get the finished product, a voice that was there before isn’t there anymore, so obviously that’s different. But we set out to make a record that we felt is our best one, and we really have been really proud of the fact that we feel like we’ve done that.”

We wonder if Zayn is cold from standing in that shade! Ouch!

But then again, that dig might not have been intentional, since every artist should want their latest creation to be their greatest one, right?

Besides, there aren’t any tracks on the album about Perrie Edwards‘ ex’s grand exit. However, Niall revealed that doesn’t mean the transition was easy, saying:

“It was a tough time. We took 10 weeks of our tour to literally just go into the studio and spent that time in L.A. And a lot of time in London on writing. That’s probably why we’re so proud of it.”

Louis said that the shifting dynamic brought the boys closer together, explaining:

“We were all in a position where we wanted to continue. When you lose a member of the team, of course that’s a hard thing to deal with, but actually what was kind of cool about the situation is we kind of knew that we had to bond together as a band at that stage and we actually really did that.”

Niall echoed this sentiment, saying that the guys are “stronger than ever” now. It’ll be interesting to see how Directioners perceive Made In The A.M., since it’s the first record without 1D’s former fifth member!
