Smith Jackson, vice president for student life at Elon, released a statement saying that Allison:

“Had left the Elon campus yesterday and his teammates, friends and family asked police to look for him because they were concerned for his well-being and emotional state.”

The university is conducting a “gathering of friends” on Thursday for those who “wish to share their feelings of loss and reflect on fond memories and special moments with Demitri.”

The student athlete became a key player on the football team last season. Elon’s Athletics Director Dave Blank said:

“Demitri was a talented young man with a bright future who was loved by his teammates. We mourn his loss deeply and we pray for his family and loved ones.”

The circumstances surrounding the tragic fall are currently unknown.

How devastating. Our hearts go out to Demitri’s loved ones at this tragic time.
