Temperatures may be dropping in New York City, but Justin Bieber heated up Rockefeller Plaza on Wednesday for his Today show concert takeover!

Hot off the release of his new Purpose album, the Sorry singer performed his new hits for hundreds of screaming fans — but not before taking a moment to discuss something serious.

On stage, the 21-year-old talked to Matt Lauer about the Paris terror attacks, and mourned the loss of his colleague Thomas Ayad, who was killed at the Bataclan Theater on Friday.

He said:

“It was really hard for me. We’d been working together for probably like four, five years. It’s just a sad thing.”

Justin also said his new album was a reflection of all the growing up he’s done over the past 3 years, promising fans he wouldn’t be making controversial headlines anymore!
