Man Killed In San Bernardino Shooting Had 6 Kids — Find Out How You Can Donate To His Grieving Family

A mom blog started a crowdfunding site for his family.

This is so sad.

On Wednesday, a disgruntled Health Department employee and his wife were believed to have been responsible for a mass shooting in San Bernardino, California that killed 14 people and injured 17 others.

We’ve now learned that one of the victims murdered in the horrific attack was Michael Wetzel, who was the father of six children.

Before she learned about her husband’s heartbreaking death, Renee Wetzel wrote in to the blog Lil’ Mamas, asking for positive thoughts, saying:

“Please pray. My husband was in a meeting and a shooter came in. There are multiple people dead/shot. I can’t get a hold of him.”

It wasn’t until 8 hours later that the momma-of-six learned her love’s life had been taken in the terrible tragedy.

Following the news of Michael’s untimely death, the blog’s president Celia Behar organized a fundraiser for the grieving family.

On the YouCaring page, she encouraged internet users to donate, writing:

“We are heartbroken for the Wetzel Family and determined to help our Mama Renee in anyway that we can. Michael leaves behind 6 children and his family will need all the support we can give them. Please. Help us help them. Every little bit counts and will go directly to the Wetzel Family. You have our word.”

The crowdfunding goal is currently set at $50,000, and the campaign has already raised over $45,000. If you would like to donate to the Wetzel family, click here.

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the sad shooting.
