This is absolutely incredible!
The holiday season is the time for giving and receiving and no one knows that better than Jeff Lewis, a 22-year-old pizza delivery man for Gionino’s Pizzeria in Mentor, Ohio.
Back in November, Lewis was moved to tears after he received a $700 tip from the congregants and pastor Ken Wright at Life Point Church. Awww!
Jeff was so thankful he recorded a teary-eyed video retelling his experience saying it was “the most amazing thing” that’s happened to him and that:
“I’m just trying to get my life back and it just really, truly amazes me that people who don’t even know me just wanted to help me out that much.”
Jeff couldn’t have been more grateful as he gushed in the video (below):
After the video went viral, Today reached out to pastor Wright to get his side of the inspirational story. He recounted:
“We ordered eight cheese pizzas for a celebration for the congregation. When Jeff arrived, we asked him to deliver one pizza to me on the platform where I had already planned on giving him a $100 tip. Then I said, ‘If anyone else wants to participate, please come up.'”
Wright went on to say that “people started lining up,” and that there were several people donating $5, $10, and even $20!
But the story gets better as Ken went on to reveal he’s since reached out to Jeff! He revealed:
“Jeff is really shy about all of this media attention now but we’ve been in touch with each other since that day and he even offered to give back the money. He keeps saying, ‘You don’t understand, I basically had given up and you restored hope in me that people care and that I’m important.'”
The pastor explained how he was pleased with the way this has all turned out for Jeff as he explained the church’s reasoning for the generosity:
“Our motto and our mission is to focus on building one life at a time and this is a great example of how a small act of kindness can make a difference.”
We absolutely LOVE this and it sounds like it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person!
