Turns out Ed Sheeran is quite the daredevil.
In a recent interview with Australia’s Nova radio as he completes the final leg of his world tour, the 24-year-old musician revealed that he will have to undergo surgery on a damaged eardrum at the beginning of the new year.
How did he burst his eardrum, you might ask?
The Photograph singer revealed that he was injured while vacationing in Spain earlier this year:
“I have to have an operation in January on my ear because I stupidly jumped off a yacht really high up and smashed it. I landed wrong, and it burst my eardrum so I have to go and get a graft, which means I’m not allowed to fly for a while, so it’s kind of good, it means I have to stay at home.”
It might not be the best circumstances, but we’re sure this is a good excuse to relax after being on the road for so long!
He’s been so busy traveling, the Brit didn’t even notice how bad the injury was until he got back into water:
“It’s the most painful thing having a hole in your eardrum and having water go in.”
Yiiiikes! Our ears hurt just thinking out loud about it.
His music doesn’t seem to be changed by the mishap (praise) — but we’re sure it’ll be a relief to start off the year injury-free!
