This is just so sad.

More details have emerged regarding the untimely death of Kristin Cavallari‘s brother Michael. As we previously reported, the Laguna Beach star’s sibling went missing after he was last seen November 27 on surveillance footage at a convenience store store in Monticello, Utah. Not to mention, his car was also abandoned off the I-70 highway about 100 miles north of the shop.

Unfortunately, on Thursday it was confirmed that Michael had indeed passed away. Tragic.

It’s since been reported by the DailyMail that Michael’s body was found right near his abandoned vehicle. In fact, Grand County Sheriff Steven White shared that the reality TV celeb’s flesh-and-blood was found:

“…north west of where the car was located approximately three miles from the vehicle.”

Oh no! It seems that the 30-year-old attempted to walk back towards I-70 following his crash — where he left his car running with the air bags deployed.

Apparently, Michael’s car hit a rocky ditch after straying from the highway.

The Sheriff continued:

“He was kind of on the slope itself. He was not too far from the bottom but he was actually on the slope itself…We had a large group of 30 plus people searching out there. We found him at approximately 10:30 this morning. It was a tough day.”

Michael previously struggled with alcohol which made him estranged from his family. Supposedly, it will take about eight weeks for a toxicology report to come back.

The police official concluded:

“I’d like to send my condolences to the family. This is a tough situation. But there were multiple agencies that assisted this and a lot of people who put in dedicated time and I’d like to thank them for bringing closure to this.”

We can only imagine the heartbreak the entire Cavallari family is enduring. Our thoughts are with Michael’s loved ones during this trying time.
