Marjorie Lord, one of television’s first true national stars known for her work on Make Room For Daddy, which began in 1953, has died. She was 97 years old.
Lord became one of television’s first true stars in 1957 when she starred opposite Danny Thomas in the infamous show, which premiered on ABC and then transitioned to CBS after years on TV.
Lord had a lot of credits to her name in a long career, but she may be best known for her generosity and philanthropy. The actress was extremely involved in supporting the arts in Los Angeles throughout her life.
And, with her third husband — banking legend Harry Volk — she founded the Music Center, which currently houses the Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
