Mother Teresa will be made a saint by the Roman Catholic Church, the Vatican announced on Friday morning!

The news comes after Pope Francis approved a church decree that the nun had in fact performed a second miracle after her death, in 2008!

As the story goes, after Mother Teresa died in 1997, she was beatified as “Blessed Teresa of Calcutta” after healing a tumor — her first miracle — in 2003.

Then, in 2008, a man in Brazil who had been suffering from an awful brain infection suddenly woke up from a coma completely healthy.

The man’s wife admitted she had been praying for help from Blessed Mother Teresa to avoid an emergency operation when, according to Father Brian Kolodiejchiuk, the divine intervened:

“[Doctors] found the patient inexplicably awake and without pain. The patient’s wife continuously sought the intercession of the Blessed Mother Teresa for her husband.”

Father Kolodiejchiuk had been spearheading Mother Teresa’s case for canonization in light of this second miracle, and now, seven years after it happened and 18 years after her death, she will become a saint.

Some Italian news sources are speculating the canonization will take place in September 2016 — the month of the 19th anniversary of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning nun’s death.
