This is horrible.
One person is dead and over 37 are injured after a vehicle plowed through a crowd on the Las Vegas Strip on Sunday night.
And according to the latest police reports, the female suspect behind the wheel intentionally drove into the pedestrians — and had a 3-year-old in the car with her at the time!
The vehicle reportedly swerved onto the sidewalk near the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino — where the Miss Universe pageant was being held — driving onto the sidewalk two or three times before speeding away.
Authorities say the toddler in the car was unharmed, and the drive is in custody being held at Clark County Detention Center.
The suspect was driving a 1996 Oldsmobile with Oregon plates, and was believed to have been in Vegas for approximately a week.
Deputy Chief Zimmerman of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the crash was intentional, but do not believe it was an act of terrorism.
Witnesses said that after the first collision, the female driver sped up before crashing into a second ground of pedestrians. 26 of the injured victims were transported to local hospitals, with six reportedly in critical yet stable condition.
Our hearts go out to those affected by this senseless crash, and thankfully the driver was caught before more people got hurt.
