This is so scary!

Earlier Tuesday afternoon in Garden City, Long Island police responded to a call of shots fired at the Roosevelt Field Mall.

Police say the shooting occurred around 1 p.m. EST at a watch store. There was only one victim reported — allegedly a mall employee — who was shot and taken to the hospital.

Thankfully, that person is currently in stable condition.

Eyewitness Robin Mackey, who was in the food court of the mall at the time, described the scenario; she heard someone shout:

“‘They have a gun, they have a gun!’ As soon as he said that, there was shooting. I mean consistent gunfire. There was a light gray cloud of smoke coming from gunfire.”

Another witness took to Twitter to share:

After police swarmed the mall, they reportedly arrested a single shooter. Nassau County Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter said:

“We have one individual shot. We have one subject in custody.”

A man on Twitter posted a video inside the mall showing stores currently still closed and mentioning people are still “frantic”:

It appears as tough things are slowly getting back to normal, but we can’t imagine how scary this must have been for those involved.

We wish the victim the best health.

We’ll keep you posted as more develops from this story.
