You know how True Detective was everyone’s favorite show in 2014 but hit the bottom of the barrel in 2015??
While many fans were quick to blame the faltered quality on new cast Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and on showrunner Nic Pizzolatto, the president of HBO is finally here to clear the air.
In fact, Michael Lombardo is actually taking all of the heat for season two of the crime drama!
He explained to The Frame:
“Our biggest failures — and I don’t know if I would consider True Detective — but when we tell somebody to hit an air date as opposed to allowing the writing to find its own natural resting place, when it’s ready, when it’s baked — we’ve failed. And I think in this particular case, the first season of True Detective was something that Nic Pizzolatto had been thinking about, gestating, for a long period of time.
I take the blame. I became too much of a network executive at that point. We had huge success, ├óΓé¼╦£Gee, I’d love to repeat that next year.'”
Plus, it didn’t help that Nic had to write the entire second season without award-winning director Cary Fukunaga‘s input.
There’s still no word on if HBO will be granting the show a third season… but things aren’t looking great since it was initially picked up for two additional seasons after season one, so season three should have been a guarantee.
Would U give True Detective another shot??
