Winter Is Still Coming! HBO Renews Game Of Thrones For Two More Seasons — But Will Season Eight Be The Last?

Breaking records every year with Emmy wins and illegal views, it’s no secret that Game Of Thrones is in HIGH demand!

And HBO is making sure to ride the cash dragon for all its worth — by renewing the fantasy drama for another two seasons!

At Thursday’s Television Critics Association‘s winter press tour, programming president Michael Lombardo said the premium cable network is finalizing a dual order for seasons seven and eight of the series based on George R.R. Martin‘s books!

Game Of Thrones is no stranger to multi-season orders. Back in 2014, HBO renewed the rating juggernaut for seasons five and six.

The yet-to-be officially announced season seven will also bring big pay raises for the cast, as the principal actors were originally signed through only six seasons of the show!

It’s still up in the air whether season eight will be the final season of the series as previously reported, but we do know that next season will premiere on April 24.

Season six will be the first of the series to officially outpace the plot in Martin’s A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The author revealed that his sixth book The Winds Of Winter will not be released before the season six premiere.

We can’t wait for two more seasons in Westeros! Winter has been coming for a while now, so we might as well let the suspense build for as long as possible, right?!
