This must be an excruciating time for Celine Dion and her three children.

On Friday, Celine, René-Charles, Nelson, and Eddy said their final goodbyes to their beloved patriarch René-Angélil. The service took place at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal where Dion and Angélil wed 21 years ago.

The beautiful service, which included lilies of the valley fastened to every church pew, was planned out by the music manager prior to his sudden death from throat cancer last Thursday. The funeral was also punctuated with heartbreaking tributes from the 74-year-old’s kids, who had nothing but lovely things to say about their late father.

Celine’s eldest son, Ren├â┬⌐-Charles, stated:

“Fifteen years is not a long time for a son to get to know his father. You left me now with enough good memories of you to share with my younger brothers. As they grow older without you being around, I’ll make sure to pass on what I’ve learned from you. You are a tough act to follow but with our help everything is going to be fine. Dad, I promise you here that we’re all going to live up to your standards.”

Yeah, we’re going to need a tissue. What an emotional day for everyone involved.

In addition to the gorgeous tributes, the funeral program included bittersweet photos of Dion and her late husband which the hundreds of mourners looked through as songs chosen by the departed played in the background. The musical choices included Trois Heures 20, L’Amour Existe Encore, and All the Way.

Our hearts go out to Celine and her loved ones during this difficult time.
