Is Melissa McCarthy Too ‘F*cking Busy’ To Return To Gilmore Girls? Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino Dishes!

We’re beyond excited for the Gilmore Girls revival to bring back our favorite characters from Stars Hollow!

Though some of the original castmates won’t be returning for the four-part Netflix miniseries, series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is willing to pull some strings for one former cast member turned movie star — Melissa McCarthy!

The writer explained that she would LOVE for the actress to make a quick cameo as Sookie St. James in the revival, but isn’t getting her hopes up due to McCarthy’s insane filming schedule!

Speaking to TVLine, Sherman-Palladino said:

“She’s really f*cking busy. But the thing I have said [to her team] is, ├óΓé¼╦£Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I’ll write her a scene. Melissa was one of us. If she has a spare moment to run over [to the set] ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ even if for just a cameo ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ we would be totally game. And if it’s a last-minute thing, I would write her in and we would figure it out. That’s the way we left it.”

While the creator is willing to bend over backwards for the Spy star, she admits it would have been “impossible” to write Sookie a storyline — but her absence will be explained!

She added:

“It was a character we knew we could not count on in terms of story, because [Melissa] just simply wouldn’t have that sort of time to carve out for us. It simply would’ve been impossible. Planning around her crazypants schedule and her movies and her this and her that and Ghostbusters├óΓé¼┬ª I would just be sobbing in a corner for six months. That would be my whole life. But if her people called me up and said she’s free on these particular days or would love to drop by and just be in one scene, we would put her right in.”

Well, that doesn’t seem too unrealistic!

Do YOU think Melissa will make a quick appearance in Gilmore Girls, or will she pull an Olsen Twins and leave the past in the past?
