The legendary musician was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1992, and had to stop touring with his band in 1994 because of complications.

Along with his brother and bandmate Verdine White, the group spawned several hits including Shining Star, September, Boogie Wonderland, and After the Love has Gone.

In 2010, they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. That same year, White was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Our thoughts and prayers go to his family during this difficult time.
