Well, you don’t hear this story every day…

Noela Rukundo, an African woman living in Australia, had gone back to her home country of Burundi alongside her husband Balenga Kalala a year ago to attend a funeral — and she nearly came face to face with her own demise!

Apparently, Balenga wanted Noela dead and paid a hit man to do it — so when they landed in Burundi, he suggested she go outside to get some fresh air, and she was promptly kidnapped by a group of armed men!

The men drove Noela for almost an hour to a remote location, where they told her that her husband had paid to have her killed — and they even got him on the phone to order the murder!

But something stood in their way.

The kidnappers decided they weren’t going to kill Noela, because they knew her brother, and because they wanted to take Kalala’s money, anyways — so they hatched a plan to fake her death and collect payment for the hit!

That’s not even the craziest part, though.

After the fake death, and after the hit men collected their $7,000 payment from Balenga, Noela enlisted the help of Burundi’s Australian and Belgian embassies to return to her home in Melbourne, Australia and lay in wait for her widower.

A few days later, back home Down Under, the man who assumed his wife had been murdered set up a funeral service for her — and Noela showed up!!!

When she arrived at her own funeral, it left Balenga sure that he was seeing a ghost:

“Is it my eyes? Is it a ghost?!”

She responded quickly:

“Surprise! I’m still alive!”

Eventually, she got Balenga to admit — on tape — that he had planned the hit, and Australian police swooped in for the arrest.

BTW, Noela has eight children to raise on her own now that her man is facing the brunt of the Australian justice system with nine years in prison, but she sounds pretty determined to make things work:

“I will stand up like a strong woman. My situation, my past life? That is gone. I’m starting a new life now.”

With all she’s been through, it’d be silly to count gurl out now.

Let’s just hope life gets easier for her and her family WITHOUT a backstabbing husband!!!
