This is huge!
On Friday evening, Tidal announced that they will be donating $1.5 million to Black Lives Matter and other related groups seeking social justice across America!
Last year, Tidal’s owner Jay Z and other performers held a Tidal X: 10/20 charity concert — and from that, the music streaming service is handing over a LOT of cash to BLM!
The donations will also be split among other related non-profit organizations, including: Opportunity Agenda, Hands Up United, the Baltimore Justice Fund and Empowerment Development Corporation, Million Hoodies, and the Gathering for Justice League.
The money will be available to those groups later in February, according to the company.
Roc Nation‘s director of philanthropy, Dania Diaz, released a statement about the donation announcement:
“The process of acquiring recommendations [for nonprofits] was collaborative and inspired by the message that speaks to racial and social inequities and injustice in our society. Each year we will support a different initiative. Our ideology is to have a hifi level of consciousness in everything we do.”
