Ryan Reynolds‘ most recent superhero flick Deadpool has its wide opening today, but it’s already found success overseas.

The studio reports that the film featuring the Merc with a Mouth had the best single-day debut for an R-rated Fox movie in the U.K. with a take of $3.4 million. It also set the same record in Taiwan with $1.4 million, and Hong Kong with $650,000, which happens to be a Chinese New Year record!

Reynolds’ flick also set the IMAX single-day record in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and had a big day in Australia with $2.1 million!

If that’s not enough, the anti-hero movie also had the biggest single-day opening for an R-rated movie in Singapore with $205,000 as well as the Philippines with $357,000!

Overall, this bodes really well for Deadpool as it is already looking at scoring over $70 million during the long weekend in North America.

That’s a far cry from the current President’s Day opening weekend record held by Fifty Shades of Grey, which took in $93 million over the 4-day weekend last year.

Will YOU be catching the violent comic book flick this weekend?
