After any movie achieves major box office success, studio executives always attempt to figure out just why the film was so popular!
So, after audiences fell in love with Deadpool on Valentine’s Day weekend, the big wigs at 20th Century Fox deduced that their first R-rated standalone superhero film was so successful because├óΓé¼┬ª it was an R-rated superhero film!
And audiences could be getting more of what they want — because now, Wolverine 3 is targeting an R rating as well!
According to ComicBook.com, Fox shared the news at the Toy Fair 2016, where they gave out pamphlets featuring the upcoming sequel with its anticipated R rating:
In the past, the Hugh Jackman-led franchise has been PG-13, but it’s no surprise audiences would tune in to a raunchier, bigger bloodbath for the upcoming sequel!
While this could lead us down a dangerous path where every superhero movie becomes a Deadpool knock off, we’re TOTALLY in for a rated R Wolverine!
We’re not saying it’s a good idea for ALL comic book movies to be rated R, but a naked Huge Jacked Man in a berserker flurry with his claws? Count us in!
Plus, Wolverine 3 will be the actor’s final stint as the mutant — so, what better send off than seeing him claw his way through an R rated film?
