But Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes tells Medium he thinks this trip will be different, saying:

“President Coolidge traveled to Cuba on a U.S. battleship, so this will be a very different kind of visit.”

President Obama announced the important news on Twitter Thursday morning, saying:

The expected trip comes after Obama’s administration restored diplomatic relations last summer, when Secretary of State John Kerry raised the American flag over our embassy after a half-century of enmity.

Michelle Obama will join the President during his trip, where he plans to press President Raul Castro on human rights in hopes of improving the lives of the Cuban people.
