One of our all time favorite late night sketches HAS to be James Corden‘s Carpool Karaoke.
If you love the segment as much as we do, you’ll be happy to hear that there’s a chance it could become a TV show!
Just like Jimmy Fallon did with his Tonight Show game Lip Sync Battle — which turned into a musical competition show on Spike TV — James and executive producer Ben Winston are looking to shop the series around to SVOD and cable buyers!
Word is the late night host will NOT be hosting the show as The Late Late Show has a very busy schedule, but there’s a good chance that he would make some guest appearances.
The idea has also gained a lot of attention with how popular the Karaoke clips are online, and there’s a very good chance networks will get involved in a bidding war for the show.
Since the comedian isn’t hosting the show, a replacement will most likely be named sometime after a network picks it up.
Apparently this is a bit of a shift from what was reported a month ago when EW chatted with another Late Late Show EP, Rob Crabbe who said:
“The trickier thing about that is Lip Sync Battle can exist without Jimmy Fallon, but Carpool Karaoke can’t really exist without James Corden.”
Regardless, we’ll be interested to see if a Carpool Karaoke show can keep people’s attention for an entire episode.
