This breaks our hearts!
It’s been 15 years since Reese Witherspoon introduced the world to Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.
And any fan would know that Elle’s best friend was her pocket-sized Chihuahua, Bruiser Woods.
Unfortunately, the beloved canine who played Bruiser — whose real name was Moonie — passed away on Wednesday at 18 years old.
The actress announced the sad news on her Instagram, complete with a throwback photo and a poignant message:
With a sad heart, I have to let all the #LegallyBlonde fans know that Bruiser Woods (also known as Moonie) passed away yesterday. He was a sweet little Chihuahua who was very loved. I will never forget all the days we spent together … I’m sure his tail is wagging in the sky. Awww, so sweet…
The actress also sent her condolences to Moonie’s trainer Sue Chip, who shared her own touching post on the pup’s passing:
On this day – a day of “throwbacks” I give you one of the greatest little dogs…”Moonie” of Legally Blonde fame. I’m sad to say that this morning in Los Angeles he left us. He was a whopping 18 years old. I remember the day I brought him home as a puppy. #RIP #moondoggie #studioanimalservices #moviedog #legallyblonde #chihuahua #chihuahuasofinstagram #reesewitherspoon #famousdogs #bruiser #ellewoods #hollywood #tbt #throwbackthursday @reesewitherspoon @renniedyballA photo posted by Sue Chip (@tailsticks) on Mar 10, 2016 at 11:06am PST
It’s always sad to lose a loved one, but Moonie lived a long happy life — and was one of the cutest movie dogs of all time!
