With series like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, Marvel has been finding homes for its less powerful characters on Netflix!
The streaming service makes an excellent space for Marvel super heroes who deal with more darker, personal themes deemed be too risky for the big screen or network television.
Many fans think this platform would also make for a perfect fit for Hawkeye!
After all, the Avenger with the bow and arrow has yet to have his fair share of screen time — at least not what his own show could give him!
And Jeremy Renner isn’t opposed to the idea!
During a recent Q&A at Silicon Valley Comic Con, the actor said he would be “open to” Hawkeye being the next Marvel hero to get the Netflix treatment, saying:
“I think that’s actually a really great model, if there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that world. These are things that are really not in my control, but I’d be open to it. I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now. You’re doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I’d be open to it. Not up to me, though.”
While Renner showed mild interest in a Hawkeye series, his arrows really perked up when asked about his thoughts on a Black Widow and Hawkeye movie — to which he instantly responded:
“In a second. I’d love to do that.”
Sadly, neither project is in Renner’s hands — so here’s to hoping
Captain America Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige lets Hawkeye fly solo in some capacity!
