This is actually insane.
It’s been over ten years since Olivia Newton-John‘s ex-boyfriend Patrick McDermott mysteriously disappeared during a fishing trip off the coast of California.
And now, Australian magazine Women’s Day claims they’ve found new evidence that confirms the blonde beauty’s former flame is actually alive and living in Mexico.
Investigator John Nazarian told the tabloid:
“It’s rumored he was with a German national. I spoke to people there. The girl he was traveling with was described as having a German accent.”
The report alleges that the cameraman faked his own death after racking up over $30,000 in debt and filing for bankruptcy.
Some say he wanted his son to be able to cash in on his $100,000 life insurance.
Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time this theory began circulating. Out of the 22 passengers on the fishing boat, no one saw the then-48-year-old go overboard, which is something John finds highly suspicious:
“To come up with the conclusion that he fell off the boat, and allegedly no one saw him fall off the boat, is the most preposterous thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”
In 2010, investigators hired by Dateline NBC claimed to have found Olivia’s ex had gotten a new passport under his birth name — Patrick Kim — and was living under the new moniker.
He had also reportedly withdrawn his life savings just before vanishing.
