The bombing attacks in Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday morning have sent shockwaves around the world.

While information is still coming in regarding how this terrible event occurred and the number of victims — current reports state 34 killed and another 170 injured — people from all over are mourning in their own way.

Jean Plantureux, also known by his professional name Plantu, is a French artist who has already created an incredibly touching tribute to Belgium and today’s tragic events.

The French newspaper Le Monde took to Instagram and Twitter to share his cartoon (above) which depicts a personified French flag crying and wrapping one around around a Belgian national flag that’s also weeping. The picture is captioned:

“13 novembre – 22 mars. L’hommage de Plantu #Bruxelles #Brussels

The dates are of course a reference to the bombings not only today in Brussels, but the November attacks in Paris as well.

It’s widely speculated that today’s attacks are possibly retaliation for Brussels capturing Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam just a few days ago.

What do you think of Plantu’s tribute?
