It sounds like Dylan O’Brien is making a speedy recovery!
The Teen Wolf actor is planning on returning to work next month after getting seriously injured filming The Maze Runner: The Death Cure in March.
Production on the dystopian action film was immediately shut down after the 24-year-old reportedly suffered a concussion, facial fracture, and lacerations after falling to the ground performing a motorcycle stunt.
But according to O’Brien’s Maze Runner costar Giancarlo Esposito, the actor is “one tough cookie” and shooting is set to pick up on May 15!
Speaking at the premiere of his new film The Jungle Book, Esposito told E! News the actor is “healing very well,” recalling:
“He got his bell rung. I would imagine many who witnessed thought that was it…[But] he’s a survivor. The one good thing about Dylan that I think is going to help him get back on schedule with us very soon is he has a great attitude.”
That great attitude includes joking with his costars during his recovery.
The Breaking Bad alum remembered Dylan’s light hearted demeanor through a text exchange they had while he was getting ready for surgery, explaining:
“I said [in a text], ‘If you wanted to get out of work I have connections at the studio. I would have gotten you off for a couple of days. You didn’t have to do that to yourself.’…[Dylan] opens it up and he goes, ‘Oh, my God, I almost broke my face laughing.'”
It sounds like the actor’s positive attitude is exactly why he’s recovering so quickly — we just hope he won’t be doing any more scary stunts when he gets back to work!
