Fitting since PayPal wasn’t around in the stone age!
North Carolina upset a lot of people across the country two weeks ago when their government decided to pass one of the most intolerant anti-transgender bills we’ve ever seen!
Luckily, it seems as though some companies are holding true to their pro-LGBT mission statements and are now punishing Gov. Pat McCrory for his bigoted law, which allows individuals, companies, and even state schools to refuse service to gays and forces transgender people to use the bathroom of the gender to which they were assigned at birth!
In fact, PayPal CEO Dan Schulman announced in a statement on Tuesday that the money-transferring company will no longer be opening a planned 400-person office in Charlotte, saying:
“Becoming an employer in North Carolina, where members of our teams will not have equal rights under the law, is simply untenable. The new law perpetuates discrimination and it violates the values and principles that are at the core of PayPal’s mission and culture.”
Thank you for your support, PayPal!!!
We’re sad that 400 people presumably innocent people lost potential employment over this, but this is what businesses need to do to show that they mean, well, business!
Plus, this means a more accepting state will now be getting a bump in the job market.
Do U think PayPal was right to abandon North Carolina over their new law??
