Macaulay Culkin is retired from acting… well, sort of.
For the April 4 issue of New York Magazine, the former child star opened up about the reality of his daily life far away from the glamour of Hollywood.
“I’m a man in his mid-30s who’s essentially retired. I kind of go where the wind takes me a little bit.”
Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean that the Home Alone actor isn’t still recognized on a regular basis. In fact, it seems that the 35-year-old enjoys strolling about the city in the early morning since it is when he can be left alone.
“I’ll take walks at two or four in the morning, because there’s nobody out on the streets and it’s easy for me to go unnoticed.”
Although, we don’t feel too badly for the Golden Globe nominee as he’s found a home away from home in the city of Paris. Apparently, the controversial celeb likes how the French people let him have a sense of anonymity. He shared:
“A waitress just gave [a card with a tiny Home Alone├óΓé¼ΓÇ£era photo of myself] to me and walked away ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ their WiFi code was Macaulay Culkin. When she came back, I said, ├óΓé¼╦£I like your WiFi code.’ She goes, ‘Thank you,’ and I say, ‘C’est moi.’ She turned white and brought over the owner of the place, who said, ‘I knew you’d come here someday.’
It turned out that no, they recognized me, they just didn’t care. I was like, ‘Where have you people been my entire life?'”
Despite the fact that the New York native feels his career in Hollywood is essentially over, he still books the occasional gig. Most recently, Culkin wrapped a brief guest arc on The Jim Gaffigan Show, had a cameo in Zoolander 2, and completed the indie Adam Green’s Aladdin.
What do YOU think? Is this the last we’ve seen of Macaulay?
